You know I was a bolt rifle person myself for a long time, until i needed a muzzle loader, and watched Schocky on TV... I got a Encore Pro Hunter M/L and got a 308 Barrel to go with it also. They both shoot wit 1/2 inch holes at 100 yrds... right out of the box,, also if i got the pistol grip and pistol barrel it would be a good single shot pistol also... All I can say is GREAT GUN :2guns

for that price on the cva esp at a chain store they are gonna cut every corner known to man, you can bet that bbls gonna have some scratches and tool marks, plus synthetic stocks suck big time. that hvy bbl'd 25-06 sounds like a good deal I got one in ruger varmint set up and is accurate as all get out and plenty of power with a nosler partition in 120 gr

You get what you pay for in a bargain rifle. Put anothe 100 to $150 with what you got and pick up a used 700 or vanguard. Maybe even a ruger if you look hard enough. If its what you can afford though Im sure it will take game. We get to hung up on fit and finish of firearms these days and forget that the friggin things actually a tool and practicality should be considered. Affordability is part of practicality.

+1, I often get hung up on firearm purchases cause I feel like I should spend as much as I can swing at the time, cause it'll most likely be a lifelong investment....but, realistically, many, if not most, firearms on the market today will easily provide hunting accuracy and could potentially serve someone well....just maybe not someone who shoots all the time.
