Yeah I got some of the WRONG loc-tite on my 30-06. I was gonna swap a bunch of scopes around a year ago and there is no way that scope in coming off without cutting the bolts with a dremel tool. If you watch the larry potterfield video on mounting a scope, you don't need the loctite and you don't need to tighten them as tight as most of us do
He mounted one in the video with a torque wrench and it took very little pressure to get it where it needed to be

the last scope I mounted i used burris all steel rotary dovetail rings, extremely strong and once set properly won't budge. I prefer using a one piece base, just make sure you have enough clearance for ejection. and try to keep the oblective lens as clost to the barrell as possible. I prefer no open sites at all on a gun I'm gonna put a scope on. I don't wanna be looking at my front iron sight thru my scope.

I have raised Weaver mounts on my 243. So i can still use my iron sights for fast shooting. After missing a large buck in the Glades because all I had was a scope, I switched to this set up. So far no problems, they haven't budged a bit with my leupold scope it's a deadly combo :rockon
