Several years ago I bought an old Mosin-Nagant M91 Russian rifle. It was one of the early models made for the Russian Army by Remington, I believe it was made in 1917 or 1918. Anyway, it was used, but still in pretty good shape except for the wood that was used on top of the barrel.

The outer surfaces had been smeared with cosmoline, and the whole thing was wrapped in a a grease paper when I bought it, so the outer surfaces were ok. It had a bit of rust in the barrel, so I took a wad of "Never Dull" and ran it through about 10 times.

Somewhere along the way in my 10 years in the USAF, I happened to acquire a bottle of what we called "camel c*m" or "monkey sp*nk", a substance we used on the Gatling guns of F-4, F-16, AC-130s, etc. for oiling and preserving. I put a coat of that down the barrel of my old Russian rifle after using the Never Dull, and that bore just sparkled! Took it to the range and fired some old FMJ ammo (7.62 x 54) at a 3' X 3' two-inch thick steel target, and hit it 5 for 5 with open sights from 300 yards (about an 24 inch spread, though)!
