Been following a thread on a site about preventing ticks and redbugs. The old timers swear it works. They say if you take a swaller (country talk for sip) of white vinegar the day before you go in the woods, the chiggers & ticks will leave you alone. Also an alternative is to eat a pickle or take a swaller of pickle juice. I have always heard that drinking pickle juice will keep you from getting leg cramps, but keeping the bugs off is new to me
Gonna try it this weekend since I always get tore up bad from red bugs
drink about 1/2 pint of my tonic and you won't care if they bite or not. kidding aside when in the first few weeks of my clear liquid diet i would drink about an ounce of apple cider vinegar to curb the hunger, it works & never noticed any red bugs or chiggers and has gotta taste better than the white vinegar.
Got a good one for skeeters, and it works. If you have a shallow well that has a high sulfer content, there's your cure for skeeters. The scouts swear by it, and it's worked for me. Skeeters and black flies are put off by the smell of sulfer, so they leave you alone. Not sure if it would run off the deer or hogs though, because it does give you a kind of "odor".
redbugs are out of control up on n fl.. ima drink a 40oz of pickle juice and get back to ya.
I had a uncle that would start taken yeast tablets about 3 days before he would go for a weekend hunt. Said he never had any kind of bug bite. :sailor
