i have never hunted with my revolver, i only take it with me as a sidearm. i have a .357 ruger gp100 with rosewood grips. i like it, it shoots well.

I have a Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter in 44 Rem Mag and a Thompson Contender in 445 Supermag. The Contender can fire 44 MAgs as well as the 445 supermags. I've yet to kill anything with either pistol but this may be my year!

I've used a ruger superblackhawk 44mag 7 1/2" bbl, and a ruger redhawk 357 5 1/2" bbl both with open sights, both work fine to the extent of my shooting ( I like to keep it under 40 yds) the problem is the deer can hear you cocking the hammer.95% of my shots at about 20 deer have been 20- 30 yds whether with bow, rifle, slug, or pistol. as for long bareled scoped big bore pistols weighing 5 pounds and using shooting sticks, I don't see much difference in that then a carbine ultra light rifle weighing 6 pounds. but variety is the spice of life I guess and to each his own. I also used to think I'd never have any use for an assault rifle but they sure are alot of fun to shoot.
