Nice tools! Take good care of them and they'll serve you well! :rockon
I need to take the shotgun to a gunsmith and have it cleaned. I got sand in it where I can't get it out after a bad fall last year. It has a few pin sized rust spots from water damage when the house was destroyed about 5 years back but nothing bad on it. I have those 2 and my first gun which is a 12 gauge single shot pardner made by New England Firearms.
I still have my first shotgun, a 20 ga single-shot Ithaca with a lever-action break. My dad bought it for me from a pawn shop out in Tucson, AZ when I was 12. First kill with it was a big jack rabbit out in West Texas. I've probably killed 200 quail and 500 dove with that thing, including a bunch of white-wings. Taught me how to lead and shoot, to where I could take a box of shells and get my limit of dove. When I finally got my 870 Wingmaster 12ga (I think it was the Christmas when I was 16, so almost 29 years ago) we went on a dove hunt the following weekend. Took me half the day to remember to pump and shoot again when I missed! I'd shoot and if the bird didn't fall, I'd just watch it fly away! Meanwhile, my brother who is 2 years younger, also got a 12ga pump for Christmas, a Winchester. He'd been using a bolt action .410 for a couple of years, and when he got that pump gun he really put out the flak! He shot 3 times every time, even if he hit the bird on the first shot. 😆 He shot 3 times as many shells as I did and had half as many birds!
Good memories! I sure hope you get to create a bunch of them! :rockon
