So what do you all think about muzzle brakes. Is it worth getting one installed on a good rifle?

How much about does it cost? Any good places that does it? I heard it helps with accuracy and so on.. What you all think about it?

i shot a 270 wsm this season with a muzzlebreak and a limbsaver recoil pad and it was amazing what it does for a rifle. i shot one with and one without and the one without felt like a kids gun in comparison. it helps with the recoil which in turn helps with your accuracy

if you're talking about a big hard kicking magnum calibur 338 mag and up maybe, and for pistols yes . they don't improve accuracy per say. what they do is re-direct the gasses leaving the muzzle so you feel the recoil differently, and sometimes reduce the muzzle flip from up to down, so you can stay on target better and realign sights faster. the down side is that they usualy make the gun much louder and you'll be less popular at the range. I've had 2- 357's ported and have broken overhead lights at an indoor range, for a deer/hog rifle I'd say no, I'm sure others will disagree.if you realy want to make an improvement on your rifle take it to a good smithy and have the action smoothed, trigger pull lightened, bed the action, put on a good recoil pad and have him measure you to be sure you have the best length of pull, and shorten the stock if needed. theese things will definately make you shoot better groups, feel less recoil and PROBABLY cost less than a porting job. I've done it on several of my favorite rifles and it's a huge improvement in accuracy and shooting comfort

You better invest in ear protection. They make a gun super loud. You CANNOT shoot one w/o ear protection, even hunting. If you're wanting better accuracy, I would glass bed the barrel before anything else
Also, this is not a knock on you personally, but I betcha that rifle of yours is more accurate than you think it is
