Ok I learned something yesterday.
A lot of us probably use a product called Gun scrubber. It is a pressurized aerosol used for cleaning internal parts on guns. It comes in a can that is highly pressurized to blast away grime that can be caked up in crevices. This stuff sells for about $7 a can. You can run thru a can pretty quick due to its high pressure
Alternative:
Walk over to the auto care section in Wally World and pick up a can of
non chlorinated brake cleaner lt is the EXACT same product as Gun scrubber and only costs about $2.25 per can
good stuff.. ill go check it out.
Just make sure you oil everything well after cleaning with these products. They strip all oils, silicones, etc. and leave the metal bare (except for bluing, teflon, etc.).
Be careful using WD-40 on weapons. It is a penetrating and loosening agent, and can allow small screws and bolts to loosen. Also, if there is any moisture on the surface, it will trap it under the film of WD-40. Better to use a good silicone spray that will replace the water, allowing it to evaporate and not oxidize the metal.
i made the mistake of using gun scrubber on my p22 and forgot to oil it after cleaning and it wouldn't cycle the ammo. then i oiled it and it worked ok for a while. i clean with gun scrubber then hit it with ballistol and that works great. ballistol stinks like hell but it works great.
