I shoulda said to each his own. so your # 2 is 25-06? a great caliber and in my top 5, but only drawback I see is it needs at least a 24" bbl to get the best velocity/performance.

I can't settle on one gun. Its where I am hunting (terrain) and what mood I am in . Whether it be my 30-30, my 243, 30-06, 25-06, or 44 carbine. I really want to shoot one with my handgun from a stand or blind. I may just do that when this ankle gets better

not counting large/dangerous game, Africa/Alaska. I think almost anyone/anywhere can find something that will work very good for them in the 308 or 30-06 brass family of cartriges, without a lot of recoil, burning a lot of powder or wearing out a bbl too fast, and in many different types of weapons, bolt, lever, pump or auto.

I'd like to keep the original sights. I just can't seem to line it up even at 50 yards. I can shoot all day using the tru glo sights that my muzzleloader has, but I just can't seem to focus well looking down the iron sights. That's why I want to put a scope on it.
I'm starting to understand when people say wait till you get older. Your eyes are the first to go.

I am also with Nacho on the scopes on Levers. I have 5 levers, a .22 LR Ithaca, .44 Mag Win 94, .30-30 Win 94, .375 Win 94, and a Browning BLR in .308. I only have scopes on the .44 Mag and the .308. Levers were not originally made for scopes or optics. Most levers made prior to 1970 had to be drilled and tapped in some way, shape or form to mount a scope.
