I am still new to hunting I used a muzzleloader first time this year I normally only have a 12 gauge. After Christmas I was thinking about getting a rifle for better distance. Do you think that would be a good gun for me? I will only be hunting in fl.

Depends on what you are hunting, how serious you are about hunting, type of hunting you want to do, the terrain you have to hunt.... Alot of factors.... Personally I think that is a good cheap rifle for a kid who may not want to hunt and you are attempting to get them into the outdoors and hunting by giving him/her the ability to shoot different types of guns cheaply and expose them to the future possiblities of the sport through versitility.

A lever action .30-30 Cal for under 100 yards is a good starter rifle. Any bolt action rifle in .243 Cal or larger will give you some distance and some accuracy over 100 yards.

That's my two minute advise....

What gunboy said. I used to have a rossi .270 that I would take if we were hunting out of town just in case something would happen to someones rifle it was a good back up. But you can get a Savage in just about any caliber you want and they are great guns with a very smooth bolt action camoed and with a scope for under $400 at Dick's.
