i use the pine scent wafers. just for cover scent. don't use any other scents until the rut. have tryed a few different ones in the last 5 years. just the deer on my lease like that code blue. had some luck with fresh tarsal glands. near a scrape that is being worked.

Generally speaking, I think scents and grunt calls are WAYYYY over used. A little scent used at the right time can be deadly. I am very skeptical of using some of the cheaper scents out there. I only use code blue or Tinks 69. Eric at the archery shop sold some that was a gel that you could open the jar and stick a hanging limb into the jar that was dynamite.

Vanilla has been used forever. I have had deer birddog me all the way to the stand when I used it as a drag. Last year I overemphasized scent elimination and used absolutely no deer scents and saw more deer than any other season. Go figure

i have pissed on scrapes. but i will hold the tarsal gland (with gloves on, them things stink) and pee on that over s scrape. checked it the next morning and a buck had freshened it up overnight.

ive heard of people burning vanilla scented candles in their stand. That smell is probably way stronger then some extract on the ground
