Well I bit the bullet and bought a new harness. I was poking around on Ebay and saw one listed for $130 which included shipping. I had to buy it and it arrived yesterday. The first thing I noticed was the weight. Not real heavy, but some weight. Nothing that you won’t get used to after wearing it a few times. The straps were easy to adjust but I couldn’t get the chest strap snug. It was still a little loose even after adjusting. The waist and leg straps were easy to adjust and snugged up good.
I haven’t watched the DVD that came with it, but the instructions basically have you take the whole thing apart and repack it before you go in the woods with it. Just reading the instructions can make it seem confusing, but I’m sure it will be easy to unpack and repack after doing it a few times. I hope to have some time this weekend to watch the DVD and test it out. I’ll update when I do.
If anyone has any questions or wants to see some pictures, let me know. I’ll try to answer them. Keep an eye out on Ebay if you are looking for one. You may get a deal.
the video is easier than the instructions imo. if you got the reg size I think the rope will go thru the cds system easier as it's a thinner diam. my chest strap is loose also. definately easier to learn and practice in front of the the tv in a/c than in the woods. you really gotta check it each time you use it to make sure the pin is in place or the line will just feed out and you will go splat.

It aint the fall that'll hurt you...its the sudden stop :pinch
the sand or mud down here is a lot softer than the slate and shale I'm used to. wouldn't want to land on one of those spike looking root thingies. a buddy of mine up in the catskills fought me tooth and nail about using the single belt type harness (before they came out with full body harnesses) well he fell asleep in my 10-12' ladder stand and woke up suddenly in mid air. luckily he was able to reach the ladder and get back in. his marlin 35cal fell only like 10' but completely broke the stock in 2, all he got were some bruised/scraped ribs.
