the double spring system is the same type they use on the 45's and i belive the 10mm and 357sig, it just soaks up more recoil and also speeds up the return for a hevier slide. its a one outer and one inner, like this one, this one is out of my 36.

horsefly, you are right, I was thinking of 2 identical springs. only drawback with the double spring, like on the 220 is it is a little hard to pull the action back to chamber a round( for a smaller woman or person with weak hands) mine is not easy I need my whole hand to do it, my glock mdl 22 I can do with 2 fingers

I hope you have had time to shoot 40's in the past
I saw this post with zero replies and didn't want to be # one
to post a complaint, I had one and ended up taking it to a show, when my guns go to the
Show, its like when you take your Dog to the vet with a tear,However the 40 went Dry eyed
It just was not a comfortable gun to shoot as already said stout and fast on the recoil
it reminded me of a 44mag and that round(44mag) in Pistol config IMHO is the most unfriendly round
for a Hand Gun ,This is my take on 40 with all the other numbers out there you can come
in with good Ballistics and still get a much better Shooter JMHO

if you go with a 40 cal there are after market drop in barrels that let you shoot 9mm's. if your not going with a 2 gun ( primary and backup ) I'd go with the sig as they are more comfortable to shoot imo, and you can get it with the "short trigger" that will fit your wifes hand better, but will cost a little more.they are simple to take down, no safeties to worry about in crissis mode, and the first shot is a normal dao trigger pull wt and the follow up shots are a lighter single action trigger pull, or you can opt for dao all the time trigger pull wt ( supposedly more prosecution proof), but I like as light a trigger pull as I can get.

no matter how big a dirtbag a criminal is, after you shoot him family/wives/ anyone looking to make a buck are gonna crawl outa the woodwork and swear what a great human being he was and what a crazed killer you are. even if found not guilty in a criminal court theres allways the civil trial. and even if found not guilty there you are still out thousands in time, as you are not employable cuz you are involved in an ongoing criminal investigation ( so much for being presumed innocent until proven guilty ) and legal fees. also the defendant in fla gets to pay the court costs even after being found not guilty, aint that a pisser. been there/done that took 2-3 years outa my life and app 60,000$, my whole lifes savings and retirement plus maxed out all my credit cards.thats why hand loads and hair triggers are not good to use if you ever have to shoot someone. trials are kinda like elections, the one who spends the most money usualy wins. and the truth has nothing to do with the outcome, it's what you get the jury to believe.
