I have no problem with a bolt either. Just mentioned the auto loader to keep my options open. Where did you see that Rem. 700?

Podunk kennels in the guns for sale threads as I recall, but think it was a little more maybe $450, but well worth the extra $. made in a good time period in nice shape with real pretty wood.

While I get what you are saying I will disagree with you on these particular models. I am a Remington fan, and will tell you the 710 may possibly be the sorriest gun ever produced, behind a hi-point. I begged a buddy of mine to not buy one, and he did anyway(30-06). he had nothing but issues with it, and it sat at the gunsmith's shop more than it was in the woods......literally.And I did not find it to be very accurate either. They are made with plastic interior parts, especially around where the magazine pops in. That plastic is famous for breaking. His broke a total of 4 times. Last time it broke he took it to a pawn shop and got what he could get and said good riddance to it. He got a Savage for not much more than he paid for the 710 and never looked back. Google search that model and you will see it was a very common problem

The 770 is supposed to be the new and improved version of the 710. A polished turd at the end of the day is still a turd

Concur!

The 700's and the 770/710's are completely different guns, from the action throughout....

The classic model '06 sold about a week ago. For $350, the best you can do is go find a Marlin X rifle. I've seen three or four that will shoot eight with some of my customs. Add $140 for a Redfield or Weaver classic and you've got a lot of gun for the loot.

I'll look into the Marlin rifles. Thanks.
