What some of those guys in East and South Fl pay to hunt for one year is what I make a year. To each his own I guess. I struggle to put away $1k a year to hunt. I may not kill the big bucks like they do, but my freezer somehow gets filled every year...probably more so than theirs. I mean hell, I only killed 2 deer and 11 hogs... lol
to each his own. I pay to go out west and hunt elk every 2 years. that is not cheap but less than what they spend .
I hear ya on spending the big bucks. I've had offers to get on a few big money leases down south with some friends. As much money as I blow I just can't see spending that much in 1 chunk to be able to hunt close to home. If I didn't work for myself and have the ability to take 4 day weekends I might think differently. Now that I think about it, I probably spent over 3 grand just in gas getting to the lease. Maybe I should rethink this.
The price of gas is what has me rethinking the whole NW Florida lease thing. Since July 2010, I've made 7 trips (fixin to be 8 tomorrow) at a cost of $250 per trip minimum. I'm gonna up up over $2K just in trips this year so far, and I still have another trip or 2 coming up to move stands, cams, feeders, and get the plots ready for summer plots. Cost of the lease is great. It the additional costs that hurt.
This is all true.. If you think about the "price of gas" and how much you spend on gas. You can just get a lease closer to home and save money. I have a lease closer to me and saved 200 bucks already and the season has not started. Granted that it was double the price of my last lease but im saving every trip.
