Just to be difficult, I have to ask how you determined that fawn is the "world's smallest deer"? I assure you that it is a lot bigger than the smallest in the world.
There is a species of deer in China that is known as the Mouse Deer. It has the distiction of being the smallest species of deer with an adult male weighing less than 10 lbs. I would imagine that a fawn of that species would weigh less than a pound.
