digital compass. stores 3 locations and can help you get back to where you started. its like a gps, just not as expensive. small, light, very easy to use. you can either store your starting point or you can use it as a compass. it tells you how many yards/miles you are from where you started as the crow flies.

Seems cool.. for what we use it for.. i got the garmin extrex legand. I didnt get the step up cause it has a digital compass and the digital compass on the garmin SUCKSASS. Im glad i didnt spend the extra 100 bucks on that model. Never had luck with digital compass on a gps.

Well then again the digital compass on my megallin worked good but the everything else sucked.. lol. you just cant win.

these are not quite as capable as far as maps and such, but very useful.
