Well I hit GS yesterday and put out my camera. Definately got my exercise I hiked about 10 miles my legs are feeling it today. I just wanted to thank everyone on the site that has given a new hunter tons of usefull info. With last year being my first time hunting I didnt do any real scouting it was mostly just finding a spot that looked good and getting in early. This year I tol my self I was gonna put in the time befor season to really learn the signs and area. Well I think it is gonna pay off. I found lots of signs and game trails. I picked a trail that was deep in the woods and followed it well I found an area that looks perfect. I almost quit because it was so thick I could barely follow it well then I came to a beding area and a huge mud wollow. Hog and deer prints all around. I set up my cam and found a couple nice trees to put my climber when the time comes. Next week I will go pull my cam (hopefully filled with pics) and scout another area . On my way out I heard alot of noise and spotted a real nice sow, I was close enough I could have speared it. Luckily I went wide to give it plenty of room cause she spoted me and bolted deeper into the palmetos. When she took off I saw to babies take off behind her and heard several more in the bush. All in all great day I think I am gonna fill my freazer this year.
Getting ready to start getting my walking in too. I am gonna go back old school again this season and climber pack it in 2 hrs before daylight. I got spoiled the last couple years
I’ve been running my game camera in the GS since end of turkey season. I think I got about 900 pics of hogs, deer and coyotes so far. I went this weekend and got the first pics of buck growing antlers (4 point). Although I went the first weekend after seting up the camera, after that, I figured it is better to wait more than a week before getting there to check the camera. By the time your scent is completely gone from the area you’ll probably have 2-3 days of pics. I run mine for 3-4 weeks before checking.
I posted some pics here a few weeks ago if you haven’t seen them.

Yea I was thinking about leaving it for like 2 weeks but with my scheduale it would end up being like a month. I did not lock it up so I am hoping it is still there. When I went out I acted as if it were season and used sent blocker, I tried to cover my sent as much as possible.

Not a good idea, although as long as its deep into the woods you are probably ok. Mine is at least 1.5 miles away from main roads and I lock it anyways just to be safe.
