Hunted all day Fri-Tues on Fitzhugh Carter WMA in the panhandle. Saw over 20 deer and a nice gobbler. Unfortunately, the only deer I saw within bow range was a little close. Buck snuck up to my ground blind from behind (I heard, but couldn't see him), and out of nowhere, turned from around the side and stuck his damn face almost into my blind. Don't know who was more shocked...me or him. I say him, because I did see the bases, but I could only see him from his nose to just past the top of his head for all of like 2.5 seconds. No chance to breath let alone draw. Has to be my closest encounter ever with a mature buck. I say mature, cus I saw him the previous morning at about 80 yards but he moved away instead of closer. All 10 points were calling my name. Wish I had the video camera with me.
