Well I got out to the lease for the last time this season. Wish I could have gotten out more this year but just could'nt get away from work as often as I have in the past. Total of 24 more hours this past week and 177 hours for the season. Ended up with 1 doe and 1 spike. This new lease was a 1 shot deal and will be looking for a new piece for this next season. The guys were great but I just don't think the quality or quantity of deer were there. Ended up seeing a total of 20 deer on the lease and only 2 were 6 points and nothing bigger. This upcoming turkey season looks good though cuz we're covered up with turkeys and can't wait to get my 1st tom. My last chance at a decent buck will be either in the glades this weekend or on a quota I've got in 3 weeks.

Been a little behind on updates, but I've been tracking in my hunting log book. Since 12/30/2009, I've logged 161 more hours in the woods and on stand with a pitiful 0% success rate. Over 35 miles walked this past extened 5 day weekend. Econfina Creek WMA just hasn't panned out. I think there's been too much pressure during the "not exactly legal" hours. I think the deer have gone totally nocturnal or subterranean. I have seen lots of sign, and the tracks show and scrapes show that the rut is starting. But I've only kicked up 1 small buck tending an even smaller doe in stuff so thick that you couldn't shoot safely. In fact, they only jumped once and stopped, because it was so thick that they couldn't see me anymore. I couldn't see them either. Sat that area 40' up in a pine tree for 2 days from 2 hrs before daylight to 2 hours after sunset, and not a single additional sighting. Giving up until late season archery in Feb.
