The older I get the less I feel I need to kill every legal deer I see. Someone young or maybe somebody who does not get to hunt much should take any legal deer without any remorse. I know I passed up at least a dozen bucks I could have easily killed last yr. If you kill it and feel good about it, then good for you.

I suck so bad, a doe tastes just as good.Never got a buck.I love deer meat.Especially venison stroganoff or backstrap wrapped in venison. If I didn't love the outdoors I probaly wouldn't hunt. :bbq

I am not a good hunter. I am the first hunter in my family in 2 generations. I have taken 2 small pigs in my 4 yrs hunting public land. Rarely get the oppurtunity to hunt private land, i got invited to hunt some hogs on private land the 22 of sept. My mind is made up now about whether or not to shoot, on public land. If i am lucky enough to have a doe show itself in archery season, i will take it. I have lined several does up in my sights during general gun, knowing i can not shoot, just to see how shaky i might get if a buck were to show up. Due to my present conditions i can not hunt the way i would like to, and therefore my time is limited in the woods. These t.v. hunting shows are funny to me. I am not a trophy hunter, i am a meat hunter. Now dont get me wrong If a nice 8 point walks in i am gonna take it, but hunting for me is a whole different ballgame than being on a huge ranch in texas or kansas, where the deer are raised to have ridiculous looking racks. I have found a number of sheds in the swamps, that indicate there are plenty of trophies out there. If it is brown it is down is the way i would hunt if there were no grocery stores.

Ted, I would spend less time in the woods because I would always be dragging something out, and having to clean it. I usually have an opportunity to kill first thing in the morning. If I shot the first legal animal every time at first light I would miss what I consider the best time to be on stand 10:00 till 2:00 . I can not hunt every day I live in the city, and go to great lengths to choose the hunts I can go on, and rarely hunt close to the truck. To each his own. I can almost guarantee that if I pop a hog from a spot I have a dandy buck working which I generally do more archery hunts than any thing. So I need my game close. The chance of him showing up with in bow range is slim to none after that thing is squealing, and laying blood all over the woods. I salute the hunter that kills any legal game as long as he respects the animal, and does not waste, or just kill for personal gratification. I love our states long hunting seasons, and liberal bag limits. Florida is unique, and can not be compared to any other states system. We do not need to adopt other states deer management programs. Ours is working fine right now.
I wouldn't mind seeing a little more antlerless deer harvest on some state land hunts. There are some places they should allow a half day, or a full day of doe harvest to any hunter on the hunt instead of a select few lucky guys who drew a tag. Give a 1 doe limit for the day, or until a doe quota is met than close it to harvest.

Take the shot or not? Well the way that I feel about it is if the hunting regulations allows you to take the shot then take it. If the state says that you can hunt over baited areas then feed them up. I never kill more then I use and if I do I'll give it away to people to enjoy processed and wrapped. People tend to enjoy it more if they don't have to try and process it themselves. Mainly because they don't know what they are doing. So personally would I take the shot? Yes if I feel it at the moment, but no I don't shot everything that moves. It's all about spending time in the woods and enjoying good time with the people you love. :saluting
