I'm not too sure about lock-on stands either. I guess if they are put up correctly, they are safe, but most of them are attached with chains, and you can hardly ever get the chain tight enough so that the stand doesn't move. No thanks. I'll stick with my ladders, Ole Man grand vision, and my tree lounge. I've never had one move on the tree yet.

I absolutely hate lock-ons. The funny thing is my friend loves hunting out of them but hates putting them. So guess who he takes along to put them up? I really dislike having to enter and leave those lock-ons as I don't feel safe.

Give me a ladder stand or climber anyday over a lock-on. I'm too clumbsy to climb in and out of them.

I love lock-ons once they're set up. You climp up nice and quiet, although my climber is nice and comfy.

They let us run legal game (fox, coyote, hogs and coon) year around except for spring turkey season. We have a special hog season after spring turkey season for 2 months when hogs (by any method) are legal to kill- this past yr was the introductory special hog season, as we presently have a serious hog problem.

It doesn't seem to affect the deer very much movement-wise in deer dog training season(coinciding with archery season) as most seem to know as long as they aren't being persued, they see no danger in the dogs. Several years ago, I was sitting in a stand during archery season and listening to a pack of dogs coming my way. I saw the doe casually trotting through the swamp about 60 yds from me. A spike and doe were feeding about 20 yds in front of me and they just squatted where they were. The pack of dogs came by and the spike and doe just sat there until the dogs were out of sight and then resumed feeding. Ive had several packs of dogs pass just out of sight and some of the older does feeding never even looke their way and acknowledge the dogs are there. They don't seem to mind at all. Those deer have been ran for many, many years and it doesn't seem to bother them. You can usually tell the older deer think it's more of a game to them, as they will run right ahead of the dogs and taunt them :pinch.
