I refuse to shoot a deer in the shoulder(on purpose). When I see a deer, I see walking cube steak and venison Parmesan. Shoulder shots mess up too much meat for me. 10 animals I have killed this year, and I have messed up very very little meat on any of them. If I can't shoot the neck or punch it behind the shoulders, I wont do it

Sorry for the crappy sign pic. I had him disassembled and realized I didn't take a pic. I sorta had to piece him back together to take my sign pic

I didn't mean in the shoulder ( that does ruin a lot of meat, but will anchor it in an emergency), the high shoulder shot I was talking about is actualy between the top of the shoulder and below the spine equally. it destroys the nervous system and some major blood arteries and drops them flat unable to move and they will die in app 10-15 seconds, but gives a decent sized area to shoot at with gun or bow, and anything up to about a foot low is still a kill shot and 3-4 inches high hits the spine, above that is a clean miss. give it a try it has worked well for me and leaves the body cavity free of blood and destroys no real usable meat, just below the backstrap and above the top of the shoulder.
