A few years ago my dad's hunt club had a lease up in Madison county. One of the members set up his tripod stand just inside one of the oak hammocks on the lease. Lots of acorns figured he could catch a hungry deer or two. The first evening he hunted it, the tree rats were giving him a fit! The next morning he took his .17 cal pellet gun with him, and popped 5 of the little bastards in about 15 minutes! The rest of them didn't make another sound, and he shot a large doe about an hour later, and a nice little six-point buck that evening.
last year i was in chazz.. i found a spot and could see big racks moving in this thicket.. it was a huge thicket up against a fence line. i could only see the deer walking back and forth through it but couldnt get a shot.. thei freakin tree rat goes to the tallest tree and starts staring at me and screaming.. the dam deer all started walking away..
then on my private property i got tons of tree rats that eat all my corn.. one day they ate a whole in the top of the feeder (couldnt see the hole from the ground) and were living in it eating the corn.. so one day i said enough is enough.. went back there with the ruger 10/22 sat all day and can you believe it.. I DIDNT SEE ONE. crazy.
