Being a new transplant to florida i've never had to deal with poisoness snakes while hunting. What (if any) precautions do you take while out? Any special ones i should really avoid around central florida?

Ive seen cottonmouths in the swamps while hunting. Just walk around them and dont get too close. They arent really a big deal

Your best time to see any is before season when your out scouting. this time of year they will be for the most part down untill it warms up.

I've been hunting down here for about 8 years and had never worn snake boots until this year. The guys on my lease told me there were a lot of snakes so I went out and bought snake chaps. It's a good thing I did cause I got hit by a small rattler about a month ago and got lucky I had the chaps on. I say get snake boots and watch where your walking. They like to get around the palmettos so keep an eye out. The moccasins will hang out around the edge of water and can be more aggressive than a rattler so I try to give them plenty of room.
