Tuesday after work we went out to our property to spend the 4th of July there.
When we got there I took a walk around to see what's been going on out there in past 2 1/2 weeks.
First of all everything is going back to green with new foilage growing everywhere. In the drainage ditch is water again about 3 feet deep with green plants all on the side walls. On the trails I saw a lot of deer tracks but no hog tracks. There are three trails on my property and all three were full of deer tracks in both directions, some old and some new.
Tuesday evening around 8:15PM I climbed up my ladder to see what I could see. Right as the sun was setting I started seeing does and fawns everywhere... about 15 deers in about 20 minutes. I had one doe with fawn walk by the trail next to my ladder. On Wednesday morning I went out on the ladder again while still dark. Just as it got light enough to see I saw several deers in the grove and a doe a fawn walking across the noth side trail going from the grove to the direction of the WMA. About an hour later I walked by the drainage ditch and found a fresh track left behind by a large solitary hog during the night.
It's exciting to see all the changes going on with this rain.
