I know I would kill anything man or beast that killed or hurt one of my dogs, does that make it right, NO, just the way it is.
yeah I think a human life is a bit more important than an animal...12 yr old shoots my dog, pissed yes I am, shoot or kill him? nope, not gonna do it...
That would be one 12 yr old visiting an ER to get one of my #13s removed from his ars. Then, he/she'd be headed for a dentist to get fit for a nice set of brandy new dentures.
if it was accidental/non malicious, or a 12 year old I MIGHT show some mercy MAYBE. any of you doggers ever have a fellow hunter or friend accidentally shoot one of your dogs? how did you handle it? since I have no children mine are like my children and couldn't predict how I might react

No I haven't had anyone (that I know of) shoot at my dogs. Being shock broke they never get on land they aren't suppose to be though, which is where I think they would get shot at.
This reminds me of a funny story though. My buddy had turned loose dogs one afternoon and they jumped and were headed back toward where he was parked. He ran around the next curve and his wife stayed at the truck. They had a doe tag and he told her to shoot a big doe if one came out. He had just got a big, solid brown july/walker dog that she had never seen before. The deer ran up to the road and then ran back into the block, hence the dogs hit the road and did the same thing. The poor brown dog was first to hit the road, and she shot at him thinking it was a doe (missing it). The dog ran back into the woods quickly and then came back out. My buddy rounded the corner and saw she was taking aim on the dog and chewed her out. Let's just say she doesn't shoot at deer while running dogs anymore. That poor dog died later that summer and my buddy says he never got over being shot at LOL
