NO guarantee's in hunting. don't even say it or you will get jinxed. thats why it's called hunting, not killing.

sorry lol haha.....

Well .308 or .30-06 on any vital will provide alot higher chance of taking out pretty much any animal down here in FL. (Compare to .30-30, .223, 7.62x39, .243, .270 (even 270 is more than enough but... lol..)

kc45 asked for opinions on what would be the "one" rifle for Florida hunting and all of the opinions are valid. One thing that might be added to this is being comfortable and confident with whatever rifle you choose. Kinda like the Ford/Chevy argument, they will both get you there but you like one better than the other and are most comfortable driving it. Same with the rifle choice, just be good with it and most calibers and actions will do the job. Some of us ol' timers remember when the .22 magnum was the caliber of choice for some serious deer hunters, it wasn't legal but in the right hands it did a number on Bambi day or night. At about the same time there were a lot of M-1 .30 cal. carbines in the woods and there were a lot of crippled and lost deer on some of the ranches we were on. Fire power with a 30 round bananna clip didn't get it done and some of the old boys discovered the 742 Rem. and the Model 100 Win. and the crippled deer situation almost vanished. The Florida deer rifle needs to be big enough to do the job and comfortable enough not to "beat your eyes out" when you shoot. Personally I have backed down from an old Rem.700 30/06 to a pleasant Rem.700 .243. I'm getting too old to get beat up by a deer rifle. Lookin' forward to Thanksgiving day, first day of rifle season in the Panhandle. Treefarmer

If I can afford it, I really wanna buy a AR with 6.8mm upper but I heard they are quite expensive...
