OK, I get it. the new 243 "for her" will just be used by you. I've bought severall guns for my wife over the years, she may have even fired one a time or two. unless you are small also no gun is gonna fit both of you correctly. the mdl 7 is the smallest to start with and you can get a youth stock for it, or cut the stock down and put on a thick recoil pad and thick padded cheekpiece and she should be good to go.

This rifle was never intended to be "her rifle" as it was going to be the one I take to the property to hunt with most of the time. I wanted a rifle she can handle too in case she wanted to shoot a hog. I like the fact that 243 ammo is available despite the current ammo shortage. I'm looking around for a youth stock right now so I can have it fit her and my son later.
My wife is not "into" guns but she knows how to handle her Glock 19 and her AR-15 carbine and can hold up her own when it comes to target shooting with rimfire rifles. She has taken several handgun and a carbine classes with Randy Cain and we took pistol class at Gunsite Academy last year. We may take another carbine class at Gunsite this year if our work schedule allows it. She may not be "into" guns but she has the knowledge to use them.
I went with 30.06. That said every store i have been in in the past two months looking for ammo always has .243 and .270 on the shelves when the rest is gone.
I found only 30-06 no 243 My wife has a 243 but my 110 lb daughter likes the 30-06 not the 243
I would say a 270 or 30-06 will give you the reach out to 300 yards and the accuracy and knock down power at all ranges also readily available usually everywhere
One Good One is all you need. 243 for me.
