why are you not supposed to shoot slugs through a slug barrel? sabots would probably be more accurate, but thats the first time ive ever heard of that. you should keep your barrel fairly clean anyways.
I was hittng pretty good at 50 to 100 yards with no scope and sabots,also shot some rifled slugs thru it and did pretty good. I killed a big ol' doe up in Michigan last fall with it. I'll get a barrel off of gun broker for it,that's where I got the stock and slug barrel.
i want to get back up to michigan and hunt. we have a family farm up there.
Rifled slugs are thicker than sabots and drag on the rifling inside the barrel and the rifling gets clogged with lead if you shoot a lot of them. I wish I'd known that before I bought the barrel because the cheapest sabot's I found were 5 for 10.00. Some guys say they shoot regular slugs and some say never.
