Try the online thing.....it allows you to select nonresident, so if the WMA permit comes up on the list, then it's available to nonresidents.

I think it is fine because there is a link on the top of the main hunting page about public turkey land and it says "especially good information for nonresidents" and has the WMA permit on the list of things.

I'd have to agree with ya there. I can't see how they wold prevent a non-resident from buying a WMA permit. There are no rules in the WMA papers that say that use of WMAs in FL is restricted to residents, but they do say that to hunt, you have to have the permit and all the licenses.

I was going to take my father, who is a Colorado resident, with me on Perdido River if he was around. But, they went back home a couple weeks before the quota season started. I was curious about the same thing you are, and I have a bit of an advantage because the local game warden is a retired Navy Chief and I'm an active duty Chief. Navy Chiefs are pretty tight and after I met this guy in the field, he gave me one of his cards and his personal cell phone #.

So, I gave him a call and asked him about taking my father since, like you, I couldn't find much info. I figured since he's the guy that polices that area, he would know what would suffice. He told me that since it was a rifle season, my father would have to buy a Florida hunting license, and that 10 non-resident license will be good enough, and that he would need a WMA guest permit which is available at the county office. The county office is only a 10 minute drive, so that was easy. The Game Warden said as long as we used the same vehicle to enter the WMA, which the regulations clearly state, shared to daily bag limit of 2 bucks, which the regulations also clearly state, and hunted in somewhat close proximiaty to each other, then we would be good to go.

Cheers :cowboy
