I am new to FL (been here since Feb 09) and am ready to get out and begin hunting since settled into my home and new job/position. I have noticed a few locations (especially up and down Route 52) that stat "Licensed Hunting Preserve"....is this open fields to hunt as long as you have a license?

Thanks-Steve

Welcome! If you get time, visit the new members forum and introduce yourself. You might also consider adding your location to your profile so other members will know the areas you might mention.

As for your question, I think those are private hunting areas licensed by the state to allow exotics and hold hunts outside the usual hunting seasons set by the state. I remember seeing similar signs around a place up near White Springs (north of Lake City), and it was a private ranch with things like axis, fallow, sika, and other exotics. It was high-fenced and well-marked.

Correct. They are privately owned. There is one here in North Tampa that has the same signs, and they do released quail hunts on it

I forgot about the bird areas. Probably more of them than the exotic places.
