those tree pigs are going ape shit over my tangerines now that they are ripe. two brittanys on the ground under them doesn't even phase them any more. I picked a large bucket full last nite peeled the zest off ( zest only NO white stuff, that makes it bitter ) put in a gal jar and cover with grain alcohol, until the zest gets brittle and snaps like a potato chip, then its time to add a sugar solution to taste. I use the hawaian sugar in the raw, heated but not boiled until it goes into solution, you can use water or the fruit juice. then srain out the zest add the sugar solution and strain a few times thru cheeze cloth or coffee filters and let sit in the dark until you can't wait any longer about 2-3 months is best. I like it strong enough so I can keep it in the freezer without freezing, but not so strong it will light on fire. it is good with meyer lemmons also, but mine are still green right now. don't worry I've got some of last years I'll bring to the party. 1st year was too weak, last years too strong, this years should be just right. drink straight in a frozen shot glass. as for the squirels " desperate times call for desperate measures )

bring it to dennis long at longs marine on hwy 41 just north north of croom rd brooksville. he's got a 500yd rifle range, and they make great targets. tell him Dave the nurse sent you ,he's a nice guy and a rifle freak, buddy up to him and he might let you use his range. it's a sweet setup with target boards and wind flags from 50 yds to 5oo. hitting grapefruit at 200 yds not hard 300 challenging and 500 impossible for me anyway. he also does some gun work for freinds. I juiced all his grape fruits and never got a chance to replace them, I owe him one. I cut down 2 grapefruit and an orange tree and kept the tangerine and planted a meyer lemon and keifer lime. gotta pick um before the freeze gets them.

I need to learn to graft. The tangerine tree came up wild years back and is on the creek bank. It is hanging over and eventually the limbs will snap. I want to graft it to the grapefruit tree which is very healthy

sounds like an intersesting combo. supposedly a meyer lemon is a graft between tangerine and lemon. sorry but I know nothing of grafting, try google.
