I see a few home made tree stands in Richloam where I hunt. Was wondering what you guys think about putting up a 2 person ladder stand, locking it to the tree. would this be something to worry about ?
Keep in mind that the chain and lock I would be using would have to be cut with a die cutter or a torch. NO bolt cutter can cut it. The only thing that could be easily stolen would be the lower part of the ladder. any poinions or idea's would be Appreciated.

I have seen stands in WMA/s most are locked to the tree, but make sure you remove it when the season is over.

I have also seen stands that have been in the woods a LONG time, and they are very rickety.

i would never climb into someone elses stand, first out of courtesy, second you have no idea how old or how secure it is, and lastly there are a few bad-apples who may "Booby-trap" their stand so no one else can use them, but I have never heard of this happening, but the possibilities are there.

Its a brand new 2 person ladder stand and I have no problem if someone else uses it. I wont leave the seat cushions on it but have no problem if someone else uses it.
