Leave the berry bushes. Deer like em too. Same for tangerines. As for the soybeans, for some reason, at least it's been my experience, bears prefer corn to soybeans. And to get the deer used to em, you can mix them in with the corn in the feeder. What you'll have to do though is go about 50-75 yds away from the feeder and leave a pile of corn, or put in another feeder with corn only. When we did it, they went to the corn and left the corn/soybean mix alone. Once you get the good feeder mix down to pure soybeans, just move the other feeder about 150 yards away, and only fill it with soybeans. If it was my feeders, I'd go get some rigid galv conduit almost the same diameter as the feeder legs, and put pipes long enough to fill each leg completely. The bears up in the Panhandle fold the thin feeder legs like beer cans. If they can't knock it over or bend the legs, they may leave it alone.
I don't know why, but a bear will sit and eat corn until it throws up and then go back to eating again. We had to line the outside of some our feeders with heavy metal flashing to keep the bears off. A 30 gallon drum cut down to the same length as the feeder also works. Just slide it over the feeder and attach it to the legs with wire.

Bears get an upset stomach from the soybeans and will leave the feeders alone from what I'm seeing. A tripod feeder won't last. If they can't knock it down I've seen them tear apart the motor to get the corn out. Slowly switch over to soybean. Plant a foodplot if you can and start a mineral site. As far as feeder times go I'd keep it down to 2 or 3 sec. twice a day for now. There's plenty of browse for deer now and you're just trying to keep them interested in the area. They'll flat out tear up the blackberries while they can. :cool2

already cut it down to one sec once a day but the squirrels get on the feeder and throw it down to their buddies. still unable to do anything stenuous for at least a month, ( I tried and opened up my incision and set me back at least another 2 weeks), now is when I need a kid or 2, or a good "HADJI" ( INDIAN GUN BOY), NO OFFENSE TO ANY OF OUR INDIAN MEMBERS, I love your slushies/icees. only way to make it bear proof that I can see is to suspend it from a wire/chain cable. the only 100% way to keep squirrels away is with a 22, man has been trying for centuries. they are fun to watch tho and I can afford SOME corn for them, but the ones that throw it down to others gotta go.
