so I guess the bottom line is to shoot as quiet/fast a bow as possible, at a close distance,at a non alert deer, with good shot placement?

I have shot a lot of deer with a 45lb recurve bow.Speed I do not think is the issue shot placement and deer attitude are most important.If you draw on a deer that is all ready alert to something it will have faster reaction time than one that is calm.
