OK, so far the plan is head out in the AM to Myakka, and hunt up some piggies. Ater that a trip to Bass Pro shop in Fort Myers, to pick up a TSA approved Gun case for my M1 Garand, Mossberg 500a, and my CCW handgun, a Taurus PT 145. And with any luck a trip by a hog processor.

Anyone have contact info for a hog processor in manatee, hillsboro, pinellas area??? Just in case I get lucky 🙂

Thanks
and Happy Veterans day to my brothers and sisters who have sacrificed, served or are still serving! I salute you all! Hoooraaaaahh!

Hey George,
Good luck in Myakka. I stopped by there yesterday morning to look around a bit, and talked to one hunter who hadn't seen anything and he'd hunted every day since Saturday. He thinks there had been 3 hogs killed so far, and there were a lot of hunters out over the weekend. If it were me, I'd check in at the main entrance, get my $2 daily use/parking pass and hunter form, then drive around to the parking area off Jennings Blvd. on the east side. From there I'd walk in to the first road/trail on the right and head north and check out the oak hammocks and thickets between there and the river. Just a suggestion based on how the winds have been lately (ENE).

As for hog processing, Oneco Meats in Bradenton will do a hog for you. Believe he told me 50 cents/pound. Just don't be in a hurry with them, as they are pretty busy during the holiday season.

Good luck, put us some more points on the board, and have a happy Veterans Day!
