In Live Oak we have 4 stands on about 200 acres. 1 hang-on, 1 double ladder and 2 single ladders. I only have two gravity feeders at the moment the others are over corn thrown out on the trails. We also put out a ground blind on occasion. These all are on known game trails.
In Laurel Hill, we have 5 stands on about 300 acres. 2 single ladders, 2 double ladders and a shooting box. We have 1 spinner and two large food plots, the others are over corn spread out on the trail.
I try to have about 5 locations for stands, myself. I have a climber and a hang-on with atypical climbing sticks. This way I can climb the straight trees and put the hang-on in anything else. It is very hard to beat the mobility of a climber.
I have a couple stands but dont have them all up and runnning. One is underwater right now so i haven't sat it or even checked it, it a platform abt 20' up. I have a ladder and ground blind on a food plot with a feeder, ground blind on another food plot just throw corn, another ladder with a 150yr shooting lane with a feeder but didn't fill or sit this stand this year yet. Another ladder and feeder in some cleaned woods and finally another ladder on a shooting lane that needs work, hopefully i will have time after the season before it gets hot again to work on it. Mainly palmettos so the bugs are really thick! i have a spot on a creek but dont have a stand there. I really want to build a couple shooting houses but the money just isnt there. I plan on cleaning more space on the food plots and and adding another spot or two for next year.
I try to keep a lot of stands going so that I can move around a lot and keep the deer guessing. I also usually have a few guys hunting with me, so everybody gets a choice. When I dont see them in one spot....I move a little and usually can get back on them. The deer seem to pattern the hunters pretty quickly if they stay in one stand. Right now I have 6 plots and a rye planted power line, about 8 shooting houses, various ladders and leaners, and a couple of climbers for when I want to get on something quick during the season, but dont want to make a lot of commotion hanging a new stand. Probably 20 or so stands, 3 spinners, 2 salt/mineral holes, and a feed trough where the bucks can eat all they want. Hard to keep corn in that one.
I keep 3-4 archery stands on the lease and my dad keeps up with the rest of the stands.
