Papaj and I shot a Racoon on the WMA, does that count?. I shot a nice doe in NY, 221 lbs field dressed and missed a nice 8 PT in NY at 60 yards with a shotgun. I discovered that it helps if you have a round in the chamber when deer hunting, especially with a pump shotgun.
LOL...yeah, it helps to have a round in the chamber. I done the same thing a couple years ago, I took the round out of the chamber to pull my gun up. Couple hours later a nice 8 pt walks out about 30 yards from me. I eased my shotty up and pulled the trigger. I hear, "click". He looked up right at me, and I picked my head up looking right at him, then I started to chamber a round and he took off. The next year I seen the same deer and shot right over his back with my .270. I haven't seen him since.
Only deer i shot at this year, and my best to date, and my first deer in several years.
