To everyone who can't make it out this weekend, I'll make sure to throw back a few for ya :toast
I took the above statement way too literal. I think I threw back a drink for every member of this forum Friday night. I don't know why it is but every time my hunting partner and I show up to camp, it seems like the town has the biggest party of the month in our honor. We finally got everyone kicked out of camp about +/- 4 am but evidently not until at least one 3 am four wheel'n expedition in my truck based upon the amount of spider webs stuck to the top of the cab and mud flung everywhere.
Here are some of our observations based upon game activity in extreme SE GA.
1) The deer appear to be moving between 4 am and sunrise, we were finding deer tracks on top of my tire treads all over camp but especially heavy in areas where we have peas planted beside the road.
2) The deer and bear seem to be enjoying my 50/50 mix of corn and Sweet 10 feed in the gravity feeders. They tore up a couple hundred pounds within 3 weeks over 4 sites. None of my gravity feeders were ripped down or tore up at all although one was covered in mud pretty good.
3) To date all my pics are of does running morning, noon and night, no horn on camera yet but I feel good that I am set up in the right areas when gun season gets here. We are seeing bucks in the large clear cuts at dusk still running in small bachelor groups.
4) I know it can be hit or miss hunting bears from a tree stand, everyone one else around us uses plots(they treed one Saturday morning west of us), but believed I had one area picked out that would work very well and I was right. Say hello to my little friend below. He kept coming back to check this area well after the feed was gone. I have 2 more weekends to try and tag this one, then he gets a pass until next year.
