Im new to the whole solunar table thing. So how would you all recommend I sit tomorrow? Early morning? All day? Evening? I was planning on sitting 5am-3pm if I can make it! Looks as though this whole weekend, Friday-Monday, are going to be great in South Florida.

Find a chart that show moon overhead and underfoot. Hunt an hour either side of that time

I recommend the app called 'time 2 hunt'. I believe its about $2 for the app but worth it. Has feed times, solar, lunar and weather info for each day

Batemaster, the table you have posted makes it fairly easy to understand. The old timers used to have some old saying that always seemed to coincide with the tables that appeared in Field & Stream magazine.

My take on the feeding periods seems to be a major period coincides with the moon staight up or straight down, what the old folks used to call a "south moon" or "moon under foot". Sunrise and sunset are always a good time and on the chart you posted it looks like that lines up with a minor period. The major periods fall around midnight and noon. As the month progresses these times will change each day by a +/- hour. After a time the major will be at sun up and a minor at noon. It keeps cycleing.

Knew some men years ago that hunted only by the solunar tables, but they didn't kill anymore deer than those of us who that hunted when we had time. The feeding periods definatly have an effect on the critters. Riding in the woods and everything is up walking, armadillos, deer, hogs, whatever, even the fish biting, go check a table and you will probably find you were in a feeding period.

There are several different set of tables and they don't always agree so it must not be an exact science. I finally figured out that we need to go every time we get a chance 'cause I ain't never killed one while sitting on a couch at the house. One other thing that seems to bother folks, is what does the full moon do to the deer activity? Ever time I think I have that figured out, I'll have deer prove me wrong.

Just some ramblin' thoughts, Treefarmer
