The pistol weighs 3lbs lighter. Either way that should be a great hunt. I know a few guys i hunt with have killed some deer with pistols and they love it

I dunno, think I'd bring the rifle just in case all you see are long shots, don't know what kinda terrain you'll be hunting, but good luck have fun and be safe
