I grew up hunting as a lil guy with my Bro inlaw until my sister decided to sleep with his best friend...my hunting days were over. At 36 years old I picked it back up to gain more self sufficiency and teach my boys.It was the best decision I ever made and my life is better for it.Now 4 years later we have gotten several turkeys a few deer, pigs and lots of squirrells and we have loved every minute in the woods. Put the focus on and make it happen.

HikerJim,

First of all, welcome to FOHAF!

I'm pretty new here and have very limited experience with hunting as I didn't start until 2 years ago when I was... 46 y/o. Prior to that I had ZERO experience with hunting and nobody in my family ever hunting anything except at the local supermarket meat department. Even now I'm not very knowledgeable about hunting but I know just enough to understand and learn by reading other's experience here. I still ask a lot of newbie questions here and everybody has been very good about answering my questions. I got started reading anything and everything on the web and at the local magazine racks. If you want to read something funny read my post about my first hog here

http://fohaf.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=9885

I hunt on my little property 2 or sometimes 3 weekends a month. More I spend watching games, more I learn about their habits and hunting methods. My family and I spend most of our free time there enjoying the great outdoors.

It's never too late to start hunting as long as you have the desire. Like most things in life, hunting is what you make of it... some people like to increase the challenge and use archery equipment or muzzle loader weapons while others will pay to have them driven out to the stand where hogs will be enclosed by fence and fed in front of the stand.

I encourage you to get started and get out to the woods whenever you have time as you'll learn something new every time you go. If you have any questions come ask here and you'll get your answer.

Make some time and get out there!!!! NOW!!!
