Sabots or regular slugs would shoot fine with the rifled slug screw in choke. Briley sells one I beleive or you could buy a factory Remington screw in rifled slug choke. I would get an after market extended screw in rifled slug choke and keep the sights and barrel set-up you have. I have 3 870's and they are great guns, next to an old Winchester Model 12 they are the best Pump shotgun ever made. Three or four months ago Remington sold there 10,000,000th Remington 870. There's a reason they have sold so many in the last 30 years.... It's because they are awesome!!!!

Preaching to the choir here...I've been shooting an 870 with slugs since I started hunting deer when I was about 8-9 years old. My dad went batshit and pawned almost all of my guns and all of his and disappeared for awhile. I bought a Mossberg 500 20G last year for $150 just for something cheap to hunt with on the shotgun only areas and I can't stand the thing. Been regretting not initially spending the money ever since. Now I have a loaner gun that can pull extra duty as an anchor, if need be.
Sell the Mossberg to buy a 4X leupold scope or red dot and a cantalever for the 870... Then you can set the 870 up as a Home Defense gun in the off season and a shotgun hog/deer killer from Oct-Jan...
