It depends. I have been hunting so close to logging crews that I was scared they were going to cut the trees around me and fall them close to me. Actually, the loggin tends to attact our deer more than run them away around here but logging is ALWAYS going on here. Deer tend to be curious and sense that the machinery won't hurt them. They also know clear cuts mean new tender browsing areas soon.
My buddy had a camera in an area they were logging right before bow season and he left it there too long and they cut everything around it but the one small oak his camera was on. Pics of skidders, the fellowbuncher, all equipment. At 1 hour and 8 mins after the last skidder pic, a doe walked into the new clear cut (still in daylight) to eat the remaining corn in front of the camera. They aren't scared a bit of them here. Last year while running dogs I had a doe run right in front of a parked loader in a clear cut and stop to look at me. She wasn't 10 ft from it and not scared at all.
Long story short, no.
No your not. Everything everyone above said is correct. It doesn't bother the deer....
up in N.H. the deer were attracted to the sound of chainsaws. you may be better off.
There used to the trucks.
