i use american hunter.. i hate the tick switch set up.. i prefer digital feeders. they go off right on time to the second. I have used american hunter since i started hunting and hate that it goes off like a half hour fast of slow due to the timer setup and the pins.. thats just my experience.

example.. you set it to go off a half hour before dark and it goes off a half hour later (at dark) then your climbing down and it goes off or the hogs come in when its too dark.

You need to set the time about 1/2-1hr ahead. The "trip pin" design does not work that well. I just set mine ahead and it works well. The last 2 pics I posted above are an American Hunter. It has been sitting there in the same spot since Feb last year. I have a solar charger, and I have not taken the battery out at all. Still reads over 6v.
I can also tell you from experience that the varmit zappers will drain your battery in a weeks time. An easier way to keep the critters off is to grease the feeder legs with vaseline
