The problem with small plots is the deer will devour them within a few days. I had a really nice one this year, and between the turkeys, doves, and deer(plus the fall drought) it was devoured.Fertilize your oaks, fertilize natural vegetation, keep a feeder going. maybe build a tube type feeder and put protein pellets in it

If you build a protein feeder, just build it at least 35" high so the hogs don't eat your high$$ feed. I am in the process of building a tripod protein feeder now.

The other thing you can try is goat feed. Deer absolutely love it. I get it at tractor Supply. Just make sure to get the moisture resistant or you will have a mess in your feeder

i would be very cautious of feeding deer unnatural feeds or supplements! yes deer will eat some of this stuff because most of these contain proteins, however feeding deer these things can and over time will cause digestive issues that will kill them. if you want to supplement there are some great things to use such as minerals.there are two types of minerals deer need macro and trace, macro minerals provide for body growth such as calcium phosphorus mag. potassium sodium etc. trace minerals are the minerals needed in small amounts these are zinc copper etc. and are used for bone growth and development. you can buy and mix most of this yourself but as for early season you cant go wrong with some persimmons
