Day 201 corn patch food plot

The short 4 day has come and gone. Haven't seen any thing to shoot the 4 times I went.

Opening morning, Thanksgiving it was very foggy, saw some movement in the pines but unable to identify what it was. Then that afternoon I took my 2 grandsons to the shooting house for about an hour. They are 6 and 8, so you can imagine how that turned out. If they could have been still and quiet, we might have got to see a doe or two with their fawns. I found that boys can only whisper for about 5 or 6 words before they forget and begin talking loud. They each had a pair of binoculars and they each banged them on the walls and window sills so many times I lost count. Then it was decided that we could see more deer if we turned the binoculars around and looked through the objective lenses! A few minutes later the little one decides to lick his brother like a dog, and that brought some giggles and laughs that ended with a fight! It was their first time and hopefully it will not be their last to go hunting with grand dad. I was not disappointed in the outcome, it's a start and another year or so will make a big difference.

We had our corn ground into meal on Monday, havent tried any yet. Wasn't able to make it and my friend took care of the work. We each ended up with 5 one gallon bags of corn meal plus a bag of grits.

Freshened up the perimeter around the corn patch with the off-set harrow on Monday and we had an all day drizzle yesterday that gave us 9/10 inch in the gage. Several deer have got in front of the camera and there are at least 2 different spikes in the woods.

M/L starts Saturday for 7 days, probably hunt the lease if the wind is right.

Looks like your little bucks are starting to get on their feet. Won't be but a few weeks till the big boys are on the prowl.
I feel your (pain) with youngins in the stand. My son is 8 and hyper as a jumpin bean. I was ready to call it a day before he was every time I took him out

I never get tired of your post.
I look forward to Wednesdays 🙂
I take my son out but only in the ground blind as I don't have a real tree stand yet.
He too makes a lot of noise but he did see a hog once about 70 yards away... he was speechless for about 20 seconds.
