are you ultimately going to use the red corn for decoration?? higher nutritional value for deer?? or just experimenting??

drgn4sr, reading what little I could find about red corn told me that it has 20% more protein and 350% anti-oxidents than yellw or white corn. I don't believe everything I read off the internet but that is interesting if it is true.

After finding enough red ears last season, I shelled them out and had about a quart of red seed and planted them in an isolated spot where the wouldn't cross pollinate with any other corn and ended up with 50%+/- red ears.

If you could grow all red, there would probably be a market for it as decoration material at this time of the year in some of the larger towns. I guess you can say we are just "messin' around" when all is said and done. At some point, seed like this assumes the title of "heirloom seed" and folks like to plant such as a novelty I think. I doubt it makes any difference to the critters as to the color of the corn. I would like to try and eat some of it as roasting ears someday.
