Day 173 corn patch food plot
Nothing much to report this week. The weather is great, couple of mornings it was below 40 degrees. Probably need a killing frost or a freeze or two to get the deer into the corn patch on a regular basis. Still have deer in and out but haven't seen any antlers yet. The camera is on a trail that jumps an old fence that is just south of the corn patch.
Still need to make a couple more shooting lanes. One picture shows how the lanes are and will add at least 2 more between them.
22 days till season starts. Have picked enough corn to use in an automatic feeder on the lease as well as seed for next season planting.
Haven't been doing much in the woods, as today is 2 weeks since my wife had heart surgery and I'm staying pretty close to the house.

BEA-UITFUL!!!!!!!!!! :cheers
Day 180 Corn patch food plot
Created 3 more shooting lanes last week by driving the tractor toward the shooting house. 2 passes each lane makes 'em 12' wide.
Several weeks back it was mentioned about the planting of the red corn seed and I didn't think it was turning out like I had hoped, but I pulled 18 ears and 12 were red! One of my friends pulled the 10 rows and it ended up about 50% red. We each have 20 pounds of red seed to plant next spring to continue to see if we can develope a solid red ear in the end. This was started from my old friend Mr. Smoker that we told about a few weeks back. Still trying to pick a few ears along to shell out to put in an automatic feeder on the lease. It almost seems like a sin to intentionally leave corn in the field knowing that the deer won't eat it all.
15 days till rifle season, then it's only for 4 days but maybe we'll have seen some antlers by then.
Pictures for today will show all the shooting lanes, the 20 pounds of red seed corn, what my wife does with the red ears and antlerless visitor.

Day 180 cont'd. One more picture, a bird flew across the shooting house widow as I took the picture.
Now that's just spectacular! If you don't put some meat in the freezer you ain't trying! And that red corn is just flat out pretty. Is it good to eat, for like meal? Red cornbread would be awesome! Wish I still lived up that way and could come visit and see it in person. You're truly blessed with a great place and little piece of heaven on earth! I sure hope your wife is doing well and recuperating fast.
